i have been trying to configure cisco WLC to work with lightweight access points 1121G-E AP. i have connected AP to access port of switch and connected WLC to trunk port of the same switch. i have a DHCP server on the same VLAN as the APs and management interface of the WLC is also set in the same VLAN with a static IP from the same DHCP range. the AP's are not been detected by the controller .
i would like to setup the wireless network with a single SSID and would want all 40 APs to be on the same VLAN..

There are a couple of things that can go wrong here.
/tech/tk72 2/tk809/ te chnologies _configura tion_examp le09186a00 808714fe.s html#t1
/docs/wire less/contr oller/4.0/ configurat ion/guide/ c40sol.htm l
First the controller can act in 2 mode, L2 and L3.
L2 means that the AP manager IP and the management Interface are in the same network as the APs as they need to answer the "Join broadcast" the APs transmit.
L3 Means that they are not and only answers unicast joins.
Note: Not all APs can use L2 mode like the 1131 AP that can only use L3.
2nd. If you use L3, which I would recommend, you need one of 2 things. Either a DNS name to point to WLC management IP address or a option 43 with your DHCP scope. The DNS is the fast to make but the DHCP is most reliable.
Here is how you configure the DHCP server with option 43
