Trouble printing with Jetdirect Wireless-G Ex over TCP/IP all XP

I'm setting up a JetDirect 2101NW Wireless-G Ex on my home network, however I can't get it to work with a Standard TCP/IP port.

I have tried the connection manager software provided, I've installed it on all my machines / laptops, but it says occupied by a pc when I tried to print on a second machine.

It sounds as if there is an address conflict, or you're not using the correct address. What are the IP addresses of the JetDirect and of the PCs?

I agree with hdhondt's initial assessment... in my experience with JetDirect print servers, they default to fetching an address via DHCP. Have you told your DHCP server to assign it the same address each time, or set the print server to a static IP in your network but outside the scope of your DHCP server?

I can ping it OK.

Perhaps I'm just being fussy, it does work with the connection manager software, it just says occupied every so often and stop others printing for a minute or two before it sorts itself out

If it's only the connection manager s/w that causes problems, do you need it for anything? As the JetDirect uses TCP/IP, what do you use the s/w for?

Also, are you certain no PC (especially a laptop that is out of the office a lot) can have the same IP address as the JD?

yep its on its own IP no other has it.

The software is used to connect to the JD, its wireless.

Dunno, why I can't standard tcp/ip
