The network card in the printer could go bad. I have had that problem with other makes and suggest you check the card. You could also try resetting it but then you may have to re-enter the wireless parameters. ... Thinkpads_User

The printer uses the printer server WPS54G
Are you meaning WPS54G is gone bad?

by: thinkpads_userPosted on 2009-11-04 at 16:02:02ID: 25745522

You didn't mention a print server in your first post. In this case, do you have an alternate print server to try?  You could try a complete hard reset of the WPS54G and then re-enter the parameters to see if that helps. You could also try (if feasible) to move the printer to the server (leaving the router out of the picture) and see if the printer works that way. You need to eliminate the faulty component through this type of testing. .. Thinkpads_User

Let me try this option first : "You could also try (if feasible) to move the printer to the server (leaving the router out of the picture) and see if the printer works that way"

If I connect the ethernet cable directly to the printer, does that suffice? or does any setting need to be changed?

by: thinkpads_userPosted on 2009-11-04 at 16:14:05ID: 25745591

The Xerox probably has an internal print server. So you need its settings. But yes, if you connect the Xerox by ethernet to the server (host computer) then you will need to probably adjust the settings in the printer properties on the host computer for the Xerox settings. ... Thinkpads_User

I just noticed something. There is no power light on the PrintServer (even though every other equipment has power). perhaps the print server is shot or the power cable?

by: anushahannaPosted on 2009-11-04 at 16:20:04ID: 25745634

let me try something.. there is another print server.. let me go and get it's power cable  and try that.

bingo.. it worked!

Thanks thinkpads_user.

Now where do i get an extra power adapter? Do you think staples/walmart will carry it, or do I need to call Linksys for that.

by: thinkpads_userPosted on 2009-11-04 at 16:26:43ID: 25745675

I always get specialized adapters from my vendor (always special order). I don't think Staples et al will carry this kind of part (you can always try), so I would contact Linksys and see if they can supply or point to a local supplier. ... Thinkpads_User
