Windows 8 - Mouse pointer keeps freezing

Hi and thanks,

Does anyone else have this problem?

My mouse pointer keeps freezing/dragging.

I move my mouse and it just drags along.

I have tried:

1. running Malware (updated) and it found nothing.
2. changing the port (Hard boot)

I have heard to delete the driver and let windows 8 reinstall

I have a wired mouse (I don't like wireless), Windows 8, HP ENVY m6 Notebook PC

Thanks for any help.

Ok,

This is what I have done so far:

I deleted the driver, also did the disable but that did require the deletion of the driver.  Then I did a shut down.  I plugged the mouse back in and restarted.  Under: Device Manager<Mice and other pointing devices it shows a: HID-compliant mouse (the wired mouse) and HP SMBUS TouchPad (trackpad).

I did delete: HID-compliant mouse

I am still having the problem.  What is funny is that this problem only started happening recently (about one week ago) and this is a new laptop bought this past summer (about 3 months ago).

I am going to try another mouse...

Any Ideas???

Thanks

nobus,

this is windows 8 not windows 7 your link is titled with windows 8 but if you read it only mentions windows 7.

It did not work anyways....

This question:
Did you make any recent hardware or software changes to your computer?

The only thing I have added was a Malwarebytes Anti-Malware software

Thanks
Did another mouse work?
did you try another mouse?
Thanks
