missing slave drive

i have a maxtor hard drive and was working before. i store all downloaded mp3 and mpeg in it. but in a moment i cannot see it in the "my computer" window but i tried to see if its visible in the bios configuration i can see it. i can also see my slave hard drive in the device manager. i checked also the jumper pins on the hard drive but its all set to be slave. how can i recover my files on my slave drive?
