Question

Case to motherboard connections. How do you connect the Front Panel Audio Connector to the ASUS MB???

Asked by: Geo_526

I am having problems connecting two (2) flat wire connectors (four (4) wires each) from my case to my motherboard.   My case is a POWMAX 0212-24HL Silver, 400W / PW with X WIN.
The case has four (4) connectors:  2 USB's, audio, mic and 1394.

The first connector / wires from the case is labeled:  MIC-IN, GND, L-IN, L-OUT.

The second connector/ wires from the case is labeled:  R-OUT, R-IN, GND, MIC-IN

On my ASUS MB (P4P800-E Deluxe) I found on page 2-34, "Front panel audio connector."  But I don't understand these instructions!!!

The problem I'm having is that the description in the ASUS User Guide is different from those on the case wires.  The FP_AUDIO connector on my MB is labeled:

1. MIC2
2. MICPWR
3. LINE OUT R
4. NC  9.
5. LINE OUT L
6. AGND
7. +5VA
8. BLINE OUT R
9.
10. BLINE OUT L

Can someone please match the case nomenclature with the MB nomenclature???

For example:  L-IN (first connector) goes to ??? on MB, etc.

The instructions provided for the MB and case are very vague!!!

Please help.  Thank you.

well, the good news is, because of low voltage it really doesnt matter how u plug it in (meaning it wont blow something up if you do it wrong....it just wont work).....some connecters dont fit all boards.....but on that board, there is no line in that i can find

ahh, forgot, line out should go from 3-6  or 3-5 (most likely 3-5) becuase
3. line out on the right
4. it has no charge on it (dead pin)
5 Line out left
6.(not sure if u need it) ground.

I tested the L/R-OUT cables from my front panel audio on both the LINE OUT and BLINE OUT on my K8V SE DELUXE mobo and they both produce the same audio output.  What's the difference supposed to be between these two?  I have no idea what L-IN and R-IN does either, as they can be plugged or unplugged without causing any change in the output.  Is the front panel supposed to be able to priovide Line In too?  When I plug headphones into the front, the rear doesn't shut off either.  It just gets slightly dimmer.  I only have one GND line too, not sure if that matters.  My Mic-in is going into MIC2 and Mic Bias is going into MICPWR.
