is it possible to have 2 mouse pointers on one computer

Hi I'm trying to hook up to mouse pointers so me and a friend can use the same computer is this possible

for the most part, that program and info might be able to help you.  i am sure there is a way to configure each pointer if you are using two monitors, it would be a lot easier to do. but check that tutorial out for the start.

there are some programs that support 2 (usb) mice connected to the computer, for example the Game Richochet Infinite (great Breakout-clone, btw), where you have a 2-player mode using 2 mice.
so, applications CAN process 2 mice input.


now, I assume you want 2 mice, so 2 persons could act on 2 screens with 2 applications?
well, then, forget that, because windows will only allow 1 active window, so only 1 user could effectively use the stuff.

if you want 2 mice control the same pointer, well, just plug 2 mice, and there you go

If you are using Windows , you could get an old desktop PC ( can have less than 400 Mhz ) and connect it to your machine via Ethernet.
You will then be able to open a second session with RDP ( also called Windows remote desktop or mstsc.exe ) .
Depending on your windows version it might require some hacks to allow multiple sessions. If you have problems with that just open another question on it !( Most likely you won't have any problems) .

Alternatively - if you have 2 Monitors and 2 Monitor Ports on your PC you can also use software based solutions such as

If you are using Linux however , there are lots and lots of solutions to that.
You can either use the remote desktop attempt via X-Windows - or
you can use any of the so-called multiseat solutions - these guys seem to have made soime cool stuff:

although you may need to look for a solution specific to  your Linux ( or for that matter UNIX)  as configuration varies greatly
