I have an XP Home computer where the mouse and keyboard are not recognized when the computer boots up.

I picked up a computer from a client but when I boot the computer the keyboard and mouse don't work.  The computer is a Dell Dimension 5150 with XP Home.  The keyboard and mouse are USB (no PS2 slots on the motherboard).  The keyboard works fine during the pre-boot.  I am able to hit the F2 button and go into the BIOS where I can make any changes I want if desired.  I can also hit F8 to boot into Safe Mode.  The problem with booting into Safe Mode is that actually the normal XP login screen appears without the "safe mode" words in the corners.  Once the system boots to the Windows login screen I can not use the keyboard or mouse.  They just simply do not work.  Any help is greatly appreciated and please let me know if you need more info.Start Free Trial
