I have not tried using the Generic/Text Only driver.
I'll give it a whirl.
I've already tried this fix. Neither Centronics nor Bidirectional modes solved the problem.
I have no HP USB cable, or I would try that to see if it's a printer problem or JetDirect problem.
I may just have to try plugging the parallel cable into my server to see what happens.

Have you tried printing using the Generic/Text Only driver? This is the only known way to print without using the fix below:
The JetDirect EX has issues detecting the proper parallel mode settings when used in conjunction with a DeskJet 1220C.
To change the parallel mode settings in the JetDirect EX via Web JetAdmin:
- Open HP Web Jetadmin and select the Print Server name in the list of available devices or use the Quick Find field to find a specific IP address.
- Select to highlight the printer and select Open Device or double-click the printer.
- Select Configuration.
- Select Device.
- In the Parallel Mode setting change to Centronics (preferred) or Bidirectional.
- Select Apply
- Unplug power from JetDirect then plug back in to initialize the new settings.
Note: If you have any computers connected to the network via AppleTalk, they will NOT be able to print under this setting. There is no known workaround for this issue.
