asked on

have multiple hpboid.exe & hpbpro.exe processes, WHY?

i have noticed on my windows 2003 server enterprise edition in the processes tab, i see multiple HPBOID.EXE and HPBPRO.EXE processes using about 2784K each. should this be happening? how did it happen? how can i prevent it.

when i go to printers and faxes, it has all the network printers, all 41 of them. should my servers have these printers?

thanks

This is NOT a solution!!!!....anyone out there on this EXPERTS website actually monitoring for solutions for this??
-I agree with previous posts; this post is not in keeping with the quality I have come to expect from experts-exchange.com.
-I had the same problem and pasted the solution below which I found at: http://vittoriop77.blogspot.com/2007/10/hpboidexe-remove-it-permanently.html

i had the same troubles on a win2k3 terminal-server. the only working solution was a little script:

net stop spooler
sleep 5
taskkill /F /IM HPBOID.exe
taskkill /F /IM HPBPRO.exe
sleep 5
net start spooler

save it as kill_hpprocess.cmd
now open a new task in the windows task-scheduler and let the schedule run daily.

HP has two solutions for this:
1)  Install the latest drivers for the HP Printer. This should be done AFTER uninstalling the original software and drivers.  There may be a message stating that it isn't Microsoft Verified.
2)  Go to the Properties page of the printer and then Click on the Advanced tab, and uncheck "Enable Advanced Printing Options".
Hope this helps.

Ya, its weird that Experts Exchange actually closed this out with the accepted solution.

Just an FYI to this, I initially downloaded and installed this printer on our 2003 server with drivers directly from HP's website on April 21/2009 and I'm still having this problem. I'll run with Montez script in the meantime (nice work btw).
well I am having the same thing however i didnt install ANY printers to this server
This really sad.   This problem has been going on for years and there is no viable solution.   Does anyone have a solid idea on how to fix this issue?
I am experiencing this problem just now, and I found this:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00601047&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

Actually there's nothing in that document, it's just asking you to download the latest drivers for your printer..
