The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

HP3100 not recognized on Intek21 TK9902 PCI Parallel port

I installed a PCI Parallel port card on my new Intel MoBo DG33FB which does not have a parallel port. I am running XP Pro SP 2 (build 2600) with all updates curent. My goal is to connect and run a perfectly fine HP3100 Laserjet printer. After nearly a full day of troubleshooting, I still cannot enable the system to recognize this connection. Command prompt printing does not work. All setup routines for both the HP3100 and the parallel card have run normally  and without error messages. I installed the HP3100 using the latest (2002) CD for XP (C3984-60133). Control Panel sees the printer on lpt1 and recognizes it as the default printer, but documents will not print. Device Manager does not see the printer. Device Manager recognizes the PCI Parallel card as "NetMos PCI ECP Parallel Port (LPT1) as working normally. I cannot locate newer drivers for the Parallel port card. I have enabled Legacy support for the card and I have tried all 3 interrupt settings, with the last being "Use any interrupt settings assigned to the port."  I really want to avoid buying a new printer.
