The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Printer stops and then starts printing again from the beginining

Asked by GLYNNEPOWELL in Printers by HP

Received error message 49 AC18. Cross referenced with HP online support and it says critical firmware error has occurred. It says the resolution is to turn the device off and then if the problem persists to contact HP support.
We thought the problem was sorted after a firmware upgrade but now it has returned (or perhaps never really
went away).  The files being sent to the printer are various formats.  Most are plain text.

We have upgraded the firmware to the latest version - still happens
The printer is on a network so we have tried it from a different location - still happens.
We tried sending a 288 page document to it and it worked fine.
The owner of the printer noticed that the display panel sometimes comes on saying 60 and
before the problem it came on saying 80.  I think this is related to the amount of memory in
the printer.  I could find no further information on HPs website regarding this. The printer is no
longer on warranty with HP.

Originally the printer did have a print server attached to it so we removed it from the equation
and now have the printer printing directly from the network server.  The problem remains.

Notably when they print out a batch of invoices it always seems to toward the end of the F
and the beginning of G when it happens.  However this same thing doesn't happen on any
other printer they have.

I'm starting to think the problem is with the internal memory of the printer.

Any suggestions for a fix would be appreciated.
