HP LaserJet Director Error - Device communication error

Asked by GlenSydney in Printers by HP, Printers & Scanners

Tags: Hewlett-Packard, HP LaserJet, 1200 (actually 1220 as it has an add-on scanner), stand alone (not networked)

I run a HP LaserJet 1200 (1220 actually because it has an add-on scanner) and when ever I have the Printer turned on for printing I will inevitably get a message on my PC screen reading:

"HP LaserJet Director Error

"Device communication error

"Check to be sure that the device is plugged in and try again

"NOTE: You might need to unplug the device and plug it back in".

No matter what I do (clicking OK, turning the printer on, off etc) this message keeps coming back and just will not go away.   The best I can do is move it to the corner of my screen and let it sit there.

For other reasons I have already been through a  Windows re-installation and this has not helped.

I'd welcome any suggestions please.Start Free Trial
