LaserJet 1018 - Spooler SubSystem Error
We have an HP LaserJet 1018 printer and when printing PDF files, we get an error that says:
"Spooler SubSystem App has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
This will stop the Print Spooler service and every attempt to start it back up will cause it to crash again unless you quickly enable it then cancel all documents in the printer's queue before it crashes again.
I have followed the instructions here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324757 numerous times to uninstall all of the printer drivers and reinstall them. I have attempted to print via Foxit Reader and Adobe Reader and the problem persists.
I have installed the following printer drivers hoping they would be compatible and work:
Laserjet 5
HP Universal Printing driver
LaserJet 1010
LaserJet 1015
When installing one of the above drivers, the printer simply does not print.
Anyone know of any drivers I can use for this 1018 or a way to resolve this spooler subsystem error?

Yes, only PDF files as far as we've encountered. The kbase article you linked is similar to the one I followed in my original post. The instructions look nearly identical.

It's working now. I read the URL you posted to HP's site above and was able to resolve the issue by enabling the "Print as Image" text box. Thanks!
