Question

x64 system plotter driver issues

Asked by: ccadsales

We've experienced an autorotate problem when plotting from our x64 workstations. After much research I have found this potential fix: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c01525380 However the driver file is no longer available on HP's website or versiontracker. I've hunted everywhere for it, hpdj4000wx64glen.exe v6.17

Where can I find this driver file or what else can I do?

Use the 6.21 driver and see if that works. The issues seemed to be in the 6.19 driver so I'm assuming the release this January of the 6.12 driver would include the fix.

@darrenmcw: The 6.21 driver does not correct the problem.

@borgunit: All that link seems to do is try to get you to install DriverDecetive.exe, which is not a driver & I do not trust.

I apologize for that

Have you tried HP support?

HP's web site seemed to indicate that it was pecific to 6.19.

Do you really need this driver?  If It's a design jet, you should be able to use one of Autodesk's built in Heidi ADI drivers for any of the DesignJet's. You really only need someting that spits out HPGL/2.

IGNORE my previous comment it may be for the wrong printer.  Are you running Vista or XP Pro 64-bit and what printer/plotter do you have?

HP Support references the document listed above & also says they can not provide the driver file they recommend. The systems are running XP x64 with a HP 800 & a HP 4000 plotters.

Have you tried one of Autodesk's built in Heidi based ADI drivers bypassing Windows and the Windows based drivers all together?

You might also want to contact a person/firm I listed below. I used Paul's services almost 10 years ago and was very satisfied with the custom plotter driver I needed to be developed for a client. Paul specializes in custom plotter drivers for AutoCAD and Windows. Back in AutoCAD 2000 when Autodesk pulled support for the DXB printer driver, Paul is the one Autodesk contracted to write the driver to put in back in in one of their service packs.  If your issues is at all common, he might already have a solution for you.
