before installing the new driver check if there is a scrubber utility that will remove the last bits (fingers crossed) from the pc. If it does exist for this device model, there will be a directory on the original CD \util\ccc\scrubber.exe

i also found a fix :
Dear All,

I found a simple solution to this issue. I tried few times and yeah, at the end, it works.

Issue:Fatal Error, MSI.dot4msi, code 2753
Printer: LaserJet 3390
Operating system: Windows XP SP3

Steps:

(1) Download software from HP Website on your Desktop(hp_LJ3050-3052-3055-3390-3392_Full_Solution_AP).

(2) Extract the file to a specific folder on your desktop.

(3) Turn ON your printer and connect it to your PC using a USB Cable.

(4) You will find a message popping up on your right hand side saying your pc has find a new hardware. ( Something called Dot4 and EWS).

Please note:

When the message pops up, make the hardware look for the driver on the specific folder you created on your desktop before.

To get there, you have to choose advanced settings and choose the specific location to your desktop, uncheck the box which will ask for the Cd Drive.

For Dot4 and EWS, do the same.

(5)

Now test your printer. click Start, printer and faxes and see if you can see your printer. If you see your printer, that means it has successfully installed.

(6) Note: Your scanner is not yet installed.

Put a A4 paper inside your scanner area and press the Scan button on your printer.

Wait for few seconds, on your printer screen, there will be a message saying " Waiting for PC", and few seconds later your software will start installing by itself. Eureka,

It will start directly to step 2 and yeah, no more error messages at step 3.

Note: At 96% of your installation, it will take a while for the installation to be complete. Please be patient.

(7)

After the installation, you will find no changes, not even a software has been installed.

But, Go to Control Panel, Then double click on Scanners and Camera, and guess what, you will find the Scanner HP LaserJet 3390 installed there.

From there, you can do your scanning without any issues.

It's a long step to follow but it's worth trying till HP send a bug fix.

Hope that works, feel free to ask any question. Cheers and have fun!!!

is there any option that if i directly clcik on scanner shortcut it scands directly into JPEG instead of TIF image ,and without following the wizard everytime i want to scan the documents ?
