- He's using the same USB port.
- There is only one copy of the printer.
- I made sure he isn't plugging the printer in before the software asks him to do so.
- The thought of the printer being offline hadn't occurred to me. I just fired off an email advising him to check that potential issue.
I'm also having him uninstall and try again, this time downloading the latest drivers from HP. I will post here as soon as I get feedback.

Hello,
When he connects the printer, is he using the same USB port? Can you have him check Printers and Faxes to make sure there are not any multiple copies of the same printer? Also, make sure he right clicks on the printer to make sure it is set online. Lastly, when he installs the printer, make sure he's installing the software before he connects the printer.
