Asked by ChrisJKay in Printers by HP, Printers, Windows XP Operating System
I asked a question about missing HP Toolbox program. this has had no reply and you emailed me to give a fuller explanation.
For sometime now I have been unable to access the maintenance software for my HP Deskjet 6940. I contacted HP Support sometime ago and they suggested a complete uninstall, including deleting all hpz*.* and hpf*.* files and all HP folders found in Program Files. I have since done this twice and on the second occasion 3 days ago followed their step by step instructions to the letter. I then re-installed the software using the CD supplied with the printer.
The printer appears in the list of Printers but each time I start up I get the Install New Hardware screen appearing, which I just cancel.
The printer works correctly BUT I can not access the User Guide and hence the maintenance program which should be listed when I click Start-Programs-HP. I need to get at the maintenance program to check on ink usage etc.
I use Windows XP Home.
Can you suggest what I should do next
