I tried that and a few others....nothing seems to clean it up. I think it must have a rootkit or something more severe. I am reformatting the hard drive.....maybe that will clean it.
Thanks for your help.

Sounds like a virus or Malware that replicates itself upon reboot. I use MalwareBytes almost exclusively for and issue these days relating to virus or Malware that can't be cleaned or removed by any of the AV apps such as Symantec, AVGetc. You can get it here: loadget.ph p?id=5756& file=15& ev p=693ee0b2 0204960edf d909666f80 9b26

Once it is downloaded and saved to a folder execte the install package and go with the defaults for installation. The application will prompt to update itself. Always chack for updates on any future use and the definition files are updated daily. You may find it will take several updates to get you to the current version as the application itself may need to be updated also. This can be checked or accomplished from the Updates Tab in the program
Onec it is at todays date version Select Quick scan and let it run( I have never had to run a full scan to remove malware or a virus) Once the scan completes it should have found the infected files. Select to have the files removed or cleaned and I also usually save the log file so I can go back and review the actual offenders for future refernce.
Try that and see how that goes. In a few cases I have had to run this from Safe Mode when it was a very malicious infectiion that prevents you from running Malwarebytes completely or prevents you from updating the program by blocking Internet access.
