Along with this problem, when I turn on the printer power, I hear a high pitch beeping from the computer tower.
I'm running windows 95 and cannon BJC- 4300 printer. I think in the message I sent earlier I said the error message was; EPT1.....PLEASE disregard that, it says LPT-1 ERROR
Thanks, guice@erec.net

What is the exact error message ?
Try these general troubleshooting steps ...
Go to start shutdown and select to restart in msdos mode once in msdos mode type at the c:\windows prompt DIR>Lpt1 and then press enter it should print if it does not please provide the error message it gave or if it did nothing.
Go to start settings printers right click on the printer make sure there is a checkmark next to set as default. if it is not highlight set as default and then left click once.
Right click on the printer again select properties go to details make sure it says for print to the following Port Lpt1, if it does not set it to this and then apply it and reboot...
Check your cable make it is attached and there are no loose screws where it is attached on the back of the pc on the port...
Also with the error message your are providing please tell me what program you are printing from and what version of windows
