The stats:
Epson Stylus Color 600
Windows 98
My printer has stopped working. When I try to print, I get errors, ie: Printer can not be found, etc.
*sigh*
I think it originally had something to do with the fact that I had Adobe Acrobat (full version) on my computer. I have removed Acrobat from my computer.
I had deleted the printer drivers and reinstalled the drivers from the Epson web site. No luck.
I have tried the Epson drivers that come on the Win98 disk located at: ?:\DRIVERS\PRINTERS\EPSON\
STYLS600 No luck.
I recently found my original Epson CD, and reinstalled from there. No luck.
Even when I go Start > Settings > Printers > Epson 600 > Test Page I get an error "Windows was unable to print the test page"
From the Epson Answers program I click "Test Print" and I get the error "there is no currently selected printer. Printer features are disabled"
I originally had the printer hooked up thru a zip drive, worked fine (in the past). I have connected it directly to the computer to make sure THAT wasn't the problem, still doesn't work.
The printer itself works. I can hold down the paper load button while I turn on the printer, and I get a test page.
I can also print from DOS. Using the following method:
COPY CON LPT1
TEST STRING OR WHATEVER YOU FANCY TO GET ON PAPER
[CTRL]Z
That prints out fine. So it seems the printer is connected properly to LPT1.
However, when I go Start > Settings > Printers > Epson 600 > right click Properties > Utilities tab > Status Monitor I get an error saying Epson Stylus Color 600 is not installed on LPT1
Also, if you feel like recommending that I go into safe mode, I can't. Not sure why I can't, but I can't seem to get my comp into safe mode. F5, F8, F2, delete, I think I've tried them all to no avail. If you feel that the ONLY way for me to fix this problem is by getting into safe mode, please let me know, I will open another Q whereby we can discuss how to get me into safe mode. Thanks.
Please I really want my printer back.
