HP 890C - Printing Magenta Colour Only

Why is it printing only the MAGENTA colour ?
Have replaced the colour cartridges TWICE now.
Also Downloaded latest driver via HP checkup site.
Have also 'cleaned' the heads/contacts on the Carriage.
Test-page still prints 95% Magenta 5% white/nothing, do remember at least yellow being present on previous tests.
'Clean Test' only Magenta and Black horizontal bands
are present seperated by white/nothing.
Any Advice Appreciated.

you may have an hardware problem.

the easiest is to
Ask someone else to test your printer on windows 2000/XP.

if it does the same you may think of buying a new printer.

Greetings!

Unfortunately, the 890C is a discontonued product (has been for a few years, I imagine).

If all that you have said above is everthing you have done to find a solution, then the only thing left to do (aside from what WhiteLotus has suggested, above) is to bring it into an authorized service center to see if anything is blocking the inkjet's spray nozzles from getting their ink to the printer's mechanisms designed to spray the 4 colours (magenta, yellow, blue, black) onto the media (paper).

For the cost this would involve, it would nmake more sense to get a new printer, unless you are sentimentally tied to the 890C <smile>.

Hi,

aside from what you have done, and what has been sugested, you may also want to check the continuity on the cable that runs from the carridge to the main pcb. If you were able to get continuity on all contacts, you would be looking at most likely a bad carridge unit, or a bad main pcb. either way, not worth fixing.

Save yourself the money to take it in, and just start looking for a replacement.

The inkjets spray nozzles are on the bottom of the actual ink tank. so if you have replaced the ink tank, twice, i would believe that that is not your problem.
