I downloaded a Firmware update (ver. 1.90) and the XP printer and scanner drivers from Xerox. After installing the Firmware and printer driver the printer only prints after displaying the Print Cartridge Setup screen and my clicking NO to the question “Would you like to perform the cartridge setup now?” Also, the printer will print only one copy, multiple copies are not possible. The scanner doesn’t work at all. I’ve followed all the directions found on the Xerox Support page, including installing the scanner driver in the Safe Mode. Before upgrading the hardware I though I’d try here for a solution. Any help will be appreciated.

I would think there would be a registry entry that may tell the Cartridge setup program not to run. I've been having similar frustration and it wasn't until now that I realize it may be due to the install of SP2. There are so many registry entries and none are obvious on what tells the program you've already aligned the cartridges.

The WorkCentre XK35c is a GDI printer. These depend on the Windows graphic processing system for everything. As a result the driver is tightly matched to the version of the operating system. In this case it looks as if SP2 broke the driver's compatibility.
As the XK35c is no longer supported by Xerox, your chances of getting a working driver for SP2 are nil. If you do not want to invest in another printer, you may want to upgrade the PC to from XP to Win2K, for which Xerox does have drivers.
If you do invest in new hardware, I would suggest a non-GDI printer, i.e. one that supports a command language such as ESC/P, PCL or PostScript.
