The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Epson R200 Photo Printer

Asked by chris-king in Printers

I have an Epson R200 Photo inkjet printer which is currently attached to this PC (I am writing the email from - an intel pentium 4, 640mb ram, Hercule Radeon Graphics card). Also I have two other PCS of slightly lower spec, but I am sure the spec of the machine is not relevant.

My problem is that a piece of software I have allows me to print out a report for a leisure activity of which I need to produce about 20 copies a week, is not printing the title correctly with the colour gradient.
The title in question, is gradient colour from orange (top) to deep red (bottom), however when using the software to print the report on the Intel 4 PC, it prints NO colours, just the outlines of the letters of the word, with no gradient fill.
The actions I have tried are :
1) Uninstalled the software in case a font, DLL or part of this program has not installed correctly - even to the point of deleting the folder after uninstall - before re-installing it.
2) Uninstalled the printer drivers and all its software for the same reasons as above, before reinstalling that.

The weird thing is, the other PCs which can print to this R200 (as its networked), print the reports fine, the colour gradient fill is perfect, and is as should be.
I have posted emails in the forum for the software I use, and they say its a "Printer driver" issue, if the printer driver cant do the gradient, this is the effect you will get", but I have proved it can, as all the other PCs print it fine.

I have the latest printer drivers (which I dont think it would be the case, since all other machines print to it fine with the original drivers).

Any suggestions on where to look next would be great :)

Chris
