What is the difference between UFR and PCL drivers?

My company is looking to purchase a large quantity of printer/scanner (90 to 100).  These printers will be used to scan documents to a network location, send/receive and print faxes, make copies, and print various other items.  On an emergency type basis it may need to print a receipt type print out on an 8 1/2 x 11 size paper.  We are going to go with the Canon 1023iF model.  We were quoted a price for the basic model that only comes with a UFR driver set(? not sure on the terminology).  We were given a demo model for testing that has a $230 additional PCL  kit on it.  So now the question is, do we need the extra PCL kit per unit or will it work fine with just the UFR driver?  What is the difference between the two and what will the additional kit get me?

Thanks in advance!

The primary role that this printer is going to serve is send/receive faxes and scan to a network location so that won't really have any interaction with a specific PC (just the network location but that's on a storage appliance).  The backup role would be to print receipts from a program that is using a Tomcat Enterprise Java Bean interface so web page printing essentially.  I will double check with our vendor and the EJB but given the information you provided above I think we should be fine without the PCL kit.  Thanks for your quick response!  I will award the points to you.  Cheers.
