The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

How to connect to a secure WLAN with the CANON PIXMA MP600R?

Asked by sae1962at in Printers, Windows Network Security, Windows Vista

Hello!

I have a CANON PIXMA MP600R printer, scanner & FAX that works properly over the USB. I want to use it also over the WLAN at home that has a WPA-PSK key. How can I "tell" the printer that this is the network to connect?

WHAT I HAVE DONE SOFAR:
In the Setup Guide, it is explained that this printer may be used both over LAN/WLAN/USB. There is also a drawing, showing a WLAN signal transmitted from the printer. By turning the small wheel on the operation panel, I
* selected "Einstellungen" (settings) and turned to "Geräteeinstellungen", or device settings.
* clicked OK and
* selected the second entry, called "Einstell. für drahtl. Drucker", or settings for the wireless printer.
* I only changed the third entry from "Image Optimizer AUS" to "Image Optimizer EIN".

I am missing an entry, asking me the WPA-PSK code or giving me the opportunity to search for a WLAN.

* Then, I searched for the printer that is not in the network.

* I connected the printer to my OLD notebook & found it now over the network. But as I plan to sell my old notebook soon, this is not what I am searching for.

MY QUESTION:
+ Where is it written in the Setup Guide how to setup the WLAN, or
+ How can I properly configure the WLAN access of this printer to a secure WLAN?

My wife also has her notebook, and I would like that she can also access it without technical prowess.
