How to setup Lanier / Ricoh printer driver to prompt for user code? LD435c
Hi,
I am trying to setup a printer, Lanier / Ricoh LD435c, and have the driver prompt users for a user code at each print. I have seen this done before, but cannot find the driver that does it.
I would appreciate any assistance.
Regards,
Chris.

Thank you very much, wyliecoyoteuk.
When the Lanier tech, no longer working with us, setup the printer, he had used a driver that definately prompted for a code each time. The usage would then be shown in the PrintMonitor environment. (Multiuser computers)
Have you seen any drivers that do this? I'm wondering if there was a parameter set in the driver, or something. To add to my confusion, this was working fine on a PC, but I added some other driver to it, and it seems to have disabled it.

It was probably the Printmonitor client application requesting a code, not the print driver.
Those sort of programs monitor a specified print queue, sometimes using a special printer port.

The RPCS driver, if using ID codes has them entered into the print driver, and they cannot be changed without re-installing the driver.
The PCL driver has them set in the printing preferences, the code is visible within the driver and can be changed whenever , but it does not prompt for a user code without 3rd party software (e.g.Equitrac).
Or when printing to the document server or hold queue etc.
The user codes must be entered on the machine also, and enabled.
You can set authentication (login and password) prompt.
