I have recently had the cartridges refilled for a Canon MP190 but after refitting them to the printer I only got about ten minutes printing before the printer would not print because the ink monitor said the cartridges were empty, the cartridges are still almost full so is there a way of telling the printer or the computer that the cartridges are full or can I turn off the ink monitor completely? thanks

Hi, thanks for trying but I got the same answer when I googled it, this is for the MPC 190 not the MP 190 which has a completely different control panel, there's no menu button on the MP 190, I think you have to somehow disable the ink warnings to make it work, when you try to print you only get two options, either view inks or cancel print job.

I refilled my MP190 Black cartridge PG-37 by drilling a hole in the top (roughly in the middle) and using the syringe supplied with the ink refill kit. To make the printer work again, press and hold down the Stop/Reset button (on bottom right hand side of printer) for at least 5 seconds until the display reads 1 again. This bypasses the ink level detector and is explained in the trouble shooting section of the on screen manual supplied on the printer installation CD. It works. It then happened again with the colour cartridge, so I repeated the process. It worked again. This should also work for the PG40 and CL41 cartridges.

Enter SERVICE MODE -- By pressing Menu, Copy, Scan, Copy, Copy
Select TEST MODE.
Select 8 PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE.
Select 3. [EEPROM CLEAR].
Select 0. [INK COUNT].
Press the Set key.
Press the Stop/Reset key (returning to the state of 3), and then press the ON/OFF key.
