If you are looking to store a certificate on it, then you got the wrong kind of card - you want a regular smart card that actually has an IC chip/ CPU on the card. Memory cards are just meant for secure storage.

Browse All TopicsWe have a Memory type smart and was wondering if it's possible to implement a PKI to encrypt the data that will be written to the smart card. Right now I am able to read and write data to the smart card using a simple application. However I want to be able to protect the data in the Smart Card from being tampered or read by unauthorized individuals.
Thanks.

Probably your best bet would be to use a file zipping product with the ability to encrypt. PKWare SecureZip, opensource 7zip, etc. You can use password protection for the encryption or if the zipping product supports you can use certificate encryption.
The memory cards you're talking about aren't really 'smart' they're just protected by a PIN and look like a smartcard. They really aren't much different than, say, an SD card - just a little better protection against tampering with the card. The manufacturer may have a tool to do more, but I wouldn't expect much. Typically with these, the data is encrypted on the card in a protected area using a symmetric algorithm with the PIN being the secret key.
Unless there is a need for this format of storage, I would normally recommend looking into IronKey - more storage, easier to work with, enterprise management tools, and just needs a USB port instead of an SC reader.
