You need to use JNI for this to be able to communicate with the DLL provided by the vendor of the device. Might be better to use JNI Wrapper so that some of the native JNI-related intricacies are handled by it and you are presented with an OO interface to deal with. www.jniwrapper.com Otherwise, if its a serial device which gets connected through the COM port, you can directly use Java Comm to communicate with the device (by-passing the DLL) if you know how to interpret and parse the data.
