Browse All TopicsI have been unable to get a separator / banner cover page (that provides print job info - date, username, etc) functioning on our Ricoh Aficio MP 6000 copier when printing to it as a shared network printer (Windows 2003 Server).
All of our other printers (Canon, HP, Xerox) have taken and successfully print the separator page. However, this Ricoh machine does not when you configure it at the driver level (Advanced -> Separator Page) under the printer's properties on the server.
Any suggestions?

From the ricoh forum:
You might need to edit the seperator page if it does not use Ricoh versions of the command codes( mainly required for paper trays)

Using Windows Separator Pages
Windows has the ability to send a banner/separator page to the printer together with your print job(Printer Properties/Advanced).
It's primary duty is to identify the job owner and separate one print job from another. It is possible to send printer PJL and PCL escape sequences to the printer as well.
Here we can use these commands to pull the separator page from a different tray source by either specifying a different tray source and/or media type.
Separating the jobs by pulling different coloured paper would make identifying each job from a stack of paper on the output tray a lot easier.
This can be done as follows;
Using a different Tray
\
\H1B\L%-12345X@PJL ENTER LANGUAGE=PCL <-- Puts printer into PCL mode
\H1B\L&l1H <-- This command pulls the sep sheet from Tray 2
\H1B\L&l1T\0 <-- Job Reset. Sets USTATUS counters etc,
\M\B\S\N\U <-- Prints user name in large characters
\U\LJob : \I <-- Prints spool ID number
\U\LDate: \D <-- Prints date
\U\LTime: \T <-- Prints time
\E <-- Exits banner page and begins actual print job
Using a tray identified as Colour Media
\
\H1B\L%-12345X@PJL ENTER LANGUAGE=PCL
\H1B\L&n6WdCol
\H1B\L&l1T\0
\M\B\S\N\
\U\LJob : \I
\U\LDate: \D
\U\LTime: \T
\E
These .sep files can be constructed using Notepad.exe and changing the file extension to .sep.
Certain Ricoh systems support different media 'words' and further information can be found using the PCL and PJL Command Set available from http://www.tessa-support.c
