Printer not responding
Good day we have a network in our school. WE have 3 servers management staff and student
This morning i noticed i couldnt print to my dell 1720 printers in the staff room which is on the staff server
the ip on the printer is 10.192.12.16
if i try to ping the printer from the staff machine it does not respond
I notice that i am able to print from the student server to that printer but not the staff server so there seems to be some conflict with the staff server i believe
I cannot ping from the staff server cause i get request time out
How do i get the staff server to be able to communicate with this printer. I think if i solve that i will be able to print from the staff machine to that printer
Any ideas???
We are using server 2003 on these servers....
it seems there is some conflict with the staff server
i tried restarting all 3 servers, i tried restarting the switch we have in school and none of those things fixed it
any ideas????

ASKER
how do i do i do this? just go on each server and type
tracert 10.192.12.16?
if that is how, i did that and i dont get any response.....
yes we have separate vlans for each network

yes we have separate vlans for each network
If the IP's of the printers are statically assigned I would be double checking that port the printer is in and double check to make sure it is in the staff vlan

problwm fixed on its own
do a tracert on both servers to that IP and see where it is failing? I am unsure of your network and switch put do you do tagging, have separated vlans for each network?
