The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Can't install Pannasonic printer in XP SP3 Greek.

Asked by chrisfixit in Windows XP Operating System, Printers, Drivers

Tags: ,

I have just re-installed a client's computer with XP Professional SP3 Greek.

She has 3 printers, an HP inkjet for general office use and 2 Dot-Matrix printers for invoice printing.

The HP and Epson DM printers are connected via USB and work fine.

The  Panasonic KX-P3200 is connected to LPT1 and is refusing to play nicely.

I downloaded the driver from here..

http://panasonic.co.jp/pcc/products/en/printer/model/dmp/p3200/p3200download.htm.

From a cold start the system recognises the printer which is connected to LPT1 as

 Panasonic KX-P3200Greek .

It will not install when I point it to the diskette containg the extracted driver files I downloaded.

So following the instructions with the driver (see attached) I install it manually.

It appears to work and shows in 'Printers' as Panasonic KX-P3200 - BUT prints gibberish instead of Greek.

Also, in Device Manager, under 'Other Devices' there is an entry with a yellow question mark for

Panasonic KX-P3200Greek .

Bemused I downloaded the Wndows 95 driver (from the same location) which mysteriously seems to have been updated this year.

It has two drivers, one for  KX-P3200 and one for KX-P3200Greek... but when I try to install this it copies a number of files but then requests the XP Pro SP3 CD looking for iconlib.dl .. but doesn't seem to like the one in i386 on the CD.

Help please!!
