Urgent -  Networked HP Printer Driver issues on Windows Server 2003

Asked by kswan_expert in Printers by HP, Printers, Windows 2003 Server

Urgent Assistance Reqiured

We've just foolishly upgraded to the latest print drivers for our HP4300TN's on a Win2k3 domain controller.  We're now having no end of printing problems to our 4300s, our HP4350s and a 2300!  For the 4300s our Word templates are no longer printing to the correct Tray e.g. letters no longer go to correct tray and prompt for paper.  The HP2300 now prints 2 pages on one!!!

Particularly concerning is that a couple of HP4350s are intermittently not printing and instead print the following

PCL XL Error

Subsystem:       Kernel
Error:            Ilegaloperatorsequence
Operator      Endchar
Position      24

Plus printing seems slower and viewing the Properties on a print q.

We do have other print servers with working 4300 and 4350 connect so maybe I could copy the drives from here?  We also have backups created with Print Migrator, would this be any good for restoring individual printers.

I'm also very conscious that rolling back may cock things up even more, given what this upgrade has done.  Can an expert who's had a similar situation pse advise what they did and any gotcha's to be aware of.

Drivers installed on the server are as follows

Hp4350 HP Lazerjet 4350PCL 6 (61.63.461.42)
HP4300 -  HP Lazerjet 4350PCL 6 (61.74.561.43)
HP2430 -  HP Lazerjet 4350PCL 6 (60.42.108.11)

Any more q's let me know?

Thanks
