forward compatibility from PS/2 to USB is always a bit horrible.
I'd bite the bullet and get a USB KVM. imho, the PS/2 ones always gave grief because they weren't hot pluggable, which is the main advantage of USB after all. Think of it this way, it's probably a 5-10 year investment for any rack, and that's not a lot of money.
RDP and TS will help, but sometimes you just gotta have a local keyboard, as the NIC's gone AWOL.
as a last gasp, ask Trend Net what they recommend.

I ran into a similar issue with a KVM. Some new PCs I was working on are USB only and wouldn't accept the KVM connection even with the USB/PS2 converter. I bypassed the KVM and the USB/PS2 converter worked fine. It was an issue with the KVM.
