Question

Canon ImageRUNNER 3570 not printing

Asked by: compuryan

At work we use a Canon imageRunner 3570 multifunction for our copying.  This unit also has the ability to print so I found the drivers and installed them, then I sent a job to it and the job did not print. The job log on the copier shows that the job was received but not printed with response code NG.  Does anyone know what the NG means?

I have looked everywhere online for a solution but unfortunately the manual is not published online and nobody else seems to be having a similar problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated... I know this question does not fit the usual categories for this site but as I said, I have tried everywhere else.

Thanks

oh and I am printing over ethernet, not USB. Although I don't think it makes much of a difference as long as the unit receives the job

also, along with NG i am getting end code 853

I assume you are using a Standard TCP/IP port on the PC. Go to "Configure Port" under the Ports tab in printer Properties. Check that the port is set to "Raw".

It is also possible that printing has been disabled on the machine itself. Type its IP address into your internet browser, and see if you can enable it - you may need passwords to change its settings though.

by: compuryanPosted on 2007-06-10 at 08:02:38ID: 19253177

it is set to RAW output already.  I went to the config page but there does not seem to be any option for printing nor any place to enter a password to enter advanced options

by: compuryanPosted on 2007-06-10 at 08:03:09ID: 19253179

when i say option for printing i mean option to enable it. it seems to already be enabled.

I have always found it hard to get information on Canon. Unfortunately I have no idea what "response code NG" means, nor have I been able to find it on the web, or on Canon's website.

There is a license file for printing that is missing on the actaul printer itself.
we contacted the vendor that supplied the multifinctional device and he has to install this to alleviate teh error.

Once the license file was added by the bendor, i went fomr no print to printing:

If you use the Canon UFRII Printer driver then it will work for most windows printing issues.  If you need to use the PCL5/6  or PS drivers then you will need the additional licenses for the copier/multifunction device.  Cost is around $500.00 list for each additional driver option.  The UFRII Driver is available from Canon's website or from the CD that shipped with the device.

by: compuryanPosted on 2007-10-11 at 05:36:16ID: 20056218

thanks for the info... I will try the UFRII driver

I've worked with two Canon Image Runner's and indeed there is some magic switch that only the dealer can throw, and at great cost I might add.

Once you assign the IP, you can browse and do pretty much anything over the LAN, EXCEPT print.  What a nuisance.  And of course, Canon has no info on it's public site telling you this.  So the dealer can take you to the cleaners.

Just fixed this problem on a Canon 3570. We used to have department ID management set up under printer options on the server. I was moving the printers to a new server and when I installed the driver this time around I turned it off in the security options.
So any print jobs were going to the copier as unknown ID (which was what we now wanted) but in the photocopier admin settings it had Department ID management set to on and it was therefore not printing jobs without ID. Turned the department ID management off and the printing is now working.

UFRII Worked for me too. Great job
People just download the UFRII Driver and you will be ok. I just installed to  2008 Enterprise Server 64Bit R2

Similar issue here with our C5030.  We had 8 installed, but only one ended up with these errors.  I have our Canon System Engineer coming back out to activate the proper license (we purchased the Post Script functionality with these units).

Yep worked for me too. Thanks!
