Set Lanier 5627 printer paper type and size?

We have a Lanier 5627 B&W multi-function device with Windows Vista computers.  We are having trouble setting the paper tray

tray 1 = plain letter
tray 2 = letterhead letter
tray 3 = plain legal
tray 4 = special letter

I've tried the PS3, PCL6 and RPCS Vista drivers from Lanier's site, but it seems like every time I make a change to one of the trays, it carriers that change to the next tray I click on.  For instance, on my PCL 6 driver, I go into Printer Preferences.  I select tray 3 and set the type to "plain" and the size to "legal" and click apply.  I then move to tray 2 and the values don't change, they are still set to "legal" and "plain".  So, I change them to letter and letterhead and click Apply.  So on and so forth for the next 2 trays.  I then go into Word and print a page to tray 4.  I click my printer's "Properties" button, go to the Paper tab, select tray 4, it shows up as "plain" - not "special"!  If I do the same thing but pick tray 3, it shows up as plain letter, not legal!

I get the feeling like I'm not setting the trays correctly.  Any ideas?  Surely Lanier can't have all their drivers this messed up.
