Browse All TopicsHaving an issue, I buy 2.5 inch sata hard drives and put them in nice little usb external cases and give them away with every computer i build.
I have never had an issue with them untill now.
I have 3 x 320 Gb seagates and 1 x 80 Gb seagate hard drives to initialize.
Steps That i took.
I first Plugged in one of the 320 Gb drive went to the management consel and then disk management.
I recieved a popup like every other time this has happened and continued to initialize the disk.
This drive gave me an error told an unexpected error has occured bla bla and to restart disk management.
So i did and that didnt work so i restarted the computer and tryed again i still recieved the same error.
I tryed a different windows xp computer and the same happens for all 3 of my drives. I even took them out on the case and hooked them up directly to the sata port.
So then i pulled out the 80 Gb hard drive and it worked flawlessly. Am i missing something here withthe 320Gb I usually use western digital and these were cheaper and since i give them away i thought i would save 9 dollars a drive.
Anyone have any ideas or are these just DOA drives.
One other thing i did was try to format them with my xp disk, When i hit C to creat a new partition it wouldnt let me do that either
PLEASE HELP

Sounds like they are DOA.
Did they show up in the BIOS when you connected them directly to the SATA port?
