I actually use the KVM switch in my pc repair shop. That's why I mentioned sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. No servers are actually connected to the switch.
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsSome computers that I connect to my KVM Switch come up with the USB Device Not Recognized error and I can get video still, but have to use a separate Keyboard and mouse instead of the ones connected to my KVM switch. My KVM Switch is a Trendnet TK-803R. I have tried toggling the scroll lock end keys to reset the keyboard and mouse function, but all this does is makes the light stop flashing on my KVM switch. Occasionally it works, but not always. I have tried switching out cables and ports, and it just doesn't work w/ some computers. Anyone know of firmware updates or a driver maybe that can be installed or any other fix/trick?

Most USB KVM switches are been identified to the server as HID devices.. if you server comes up with a 'USB device Not recognized' message it may be an issue of your system distribution image.. check what driver your system load in when it works and what driver it shows when it does not work..
Make sure you dont have Keyboard/Mouse movement when the server boots.. some KVM switches does not handle USB emulation well enough...
It maybe that you have a faulty KVM switch that needs to be replaced/repaired..
