I am using the driver listed (good work tracking it down) and have completely removed and re-added the device. Before I was getting error code 1 because of a name conflict due to a failed install using a different driver. I was working with a time clock company that gave me a driver they said would work that didn't. They provided the adapter with the clock software. Together we eventually found the driver you have listed above. After manually deleting the original driver and removing any reference to it in the registry, I was finally able to get the adapter installed to the point listed above. That was the first time it had actually said it was installed and recognized the device's name etc. I was hoping there would be some logs or something that could help me figure out what the deal is. Unless the driver is incorrect, I have worked with it every way I know how. I literally worked with this thing 4 hours yesterday. I don't recall ever having this much trouble with a device/driver.

I know it says it has installed successfully, but that is probably not true. Error code 10 can usually be fixed by reinstalling the driver or installing the *correct* driver. All it means is that Windows doesn't really know what the problem is, which is often just a fault of the driver itself.

You should right click on the device in Device Manager, remove it. If you have a software install package in Control Panel > Uninstall Programs then use it's own driver uninstaller too. Disconnect the device afterward and I'd recommend a restart if at all possible.
Next -- if you haven't already -- try using the *latest* drivers available. I think this is it (Dated July 2009): http://www.prolific.com.tw
Install those after the restart and plug in your device. Universe permitting, your problem should be addressed (if this is indeed a software issue).
