It sounds like the Print Spooler is stopping due to an error with the print driver. I would suggest removing the drive driver and re-installing it. It might also help if you down load the latest driver off the internet.
If the print spooler is not running you will not be able to access the property of your printers.

stop & start the service just incase.
To restart click on Stop > wait a little bit > Click on start
It will says automatic because it is set to start automatic on system start up. This does not mean it is started.
