Update fields in Word 2007

Asked by caseassoc in Peripherals

When I open a word document the date field in the document automaitcally updates.  

I have double check and the automatically update check box is clear, but the date still updates to the current date.

Most of the docs were made in earlier versions of Word.  I am currently on Word 2007.

I turned off automatic link updates and still  no go.  Does anyone have another suyggestion.
