The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

HP ScanJet 3200C  scanner problem

Asked by mcraema1 in Computer Scanners by HP

Tags: , , ,

I am having problems with my HP ScanJet 3200C scanner.  I use Windows 98.  The scanner is connected with a parallel cable.  The scanner is routed through the printer or the printer through the scanner. This is my problem:

A few months ago, when I scanned, the scanner bed began showing a verticle yellow line.  It progressively got worse until the entire bed was yellow.  Then it scanned with multicolored lines.  It is making a noise when it scans.  My husband tried cleaning the mirrors and the glass with alcohol.  It still doesn't scan correctly. I can see the light as it passes when it scans.  It starts off white, then turns yellow.  Could the light be going bad and need replacing?  I uninstalled and reinstalled the scanner and the printer.  I tried some online support, downloading ScanJet 3200C Power Control Patch and a couple of other updates.  This didn't help either. I emailed HP a couple of days ago but got no response so far. I haven't called them due to the $2 a minute charge.  If I'm on the phone with them, as I have been with technicians with other companies, for 30 minutes or an hour, I could buy a new scanner.  Any suggestions other than buying a new scanner?  It's no longer under warranty.
Thank you in advance for any help.
