Loading HP Scanner drivers only

I want to install an HP Officejet All-in-one 4215 scanner/printer without all the HP software.  How do I install the printer/scanner using the XP and just telling it where to find the drivers?

i doubt it is possible; but you can try this :
install the driver with the normal cd, when done use driverguide toolkit to collect the driver for the scanner, put them on floppy or cd.
Now uninstall the HP soft, and try to install from your newly made driver cd

I downloaded the driver guide software, but haven't tried it yet.  I removed all the HP software and then just plugged in the printer/scanner and used the XP "found new hardware" utility.  When it asked for location of software, I indicated the HP software CD.  XP grabbed the drivers and was happy.  

But, then the HP disk started trying to load the rest of the HP software.  I just ejected the disk.  The install program was not happy, but it was able to abort.

So far everything is working OK.

ok then, that's another way to handle it.. i agree you do not need 600 mb of software to install a device, like they think at HP
