I already had to fight with HP's software to get it installed once because they don't have a 64-bit driver. The full installation would fail so I finally used the basic setup, then installed components from the full setup manually, but it still won't recognize it for solution center.
I am using Vista sp2 64-bit.

I have looked around and the only thing that I can find for alternate software is using WIA (Windows Image Acquisition), but I don't have a compatible driver for that either.
Any suggestions of alternate scanning software would be greatly appreciated.
I guess it could be a conflict, but I don't have any extremely unusual software installed.
I would suggest
VueScan

You can try this.. It is called Kofax Virtual ReScan.. It is available from HP's website. It is a software for scanners however it may work with your all in one..try it..

That worked. Although it seems to want a license, it worked fine for my limited tests. It did help me find that I could run the hp scanning program from the command line and bypass the solution center issue without loosing the functionality of hp's software. The command line is "C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqscnvw.exe" on my system and should be the same on most because of the way hp likes to install its software.

Also, I am on a laptop connected via wifi to the router that the printer is plugged into. The printer is accessible over the network by its ip. It is also configured to use a static ip.
