Creating a barcode for number pad plus (+) key?

Is it possible to create a barcode for the number pad plus (+) key?  We have a shipping application that only recognizes this specific key to record the data.  We would rather the user scan this key than to turn-around, locate the key and then press it before moving on the next package.  We have not found a way to change the application to use an alternate key, so we are pursueing this avenue.  This is running on a Compaq/Intel PC, Win2K SP3 w/the standard Compaq Windows keyboard.  We use Symbol scanners, Zebra printers.  I've approached both of these vendors and the shipping application vendor so far without success.

Any help would be appreciated.
