Hi everyone
I am having problems installing my Canon LIDE 20 USB scanner. The windows 98 SE computer I use is not recognizing it. The scanner is connected via a USB port. Under the Ports tab, my device manager does not list any USB ports attached to my computer, so perhaps that's the problem. But under sound, video and game controllers, I see my computer says mpu-401 compatible device which might mean the scanner (I don't remember seeing that entry before I installed the scanner software).
I tried uninstalling the software and waiting for windows to detect the scanner on boot up hoping to then direct windows to reinstall the software using the cd that came with the scanner, but windows doesnt detect it on boot up.
I read somewhere to search for all files using the string "twain twunk" and let windows find all of these files on my computer. I read that I should then delete them all, and then reinstall the software. Well, I tried that, rebooted, and then went again to the Canon CD and reinstalled the twain driver (called Scangear CS) from the cd. But I still cant scan. Now when I open the Omnipage software that came with the scanner and try to scan something into it, the program tells me I have no twain driver installed. So what do I do now? Where can I get the Twain driver? I must have accadentally deleted a Twain driver I need, or else for some reason the driver on the canon cd isnt installing. I downloaded the new Scangear CS driver from Canons website and ran the program and rebooted but I still get the same error.
Please help.
Thanks.
