How to assign a digital scanner an email address?

I have a customer asking me to do this for them. I don't know why. They said that putting in the "sender" email can cause problems. I hate when I get asked to do stupid ass things. I never seen a digital sender or scanner with an email address assigned to itself for the "sender" portion.

Has anyone done this before? Do I do this in Exchange?

Make the email account in exchange, then browse to the IP address of the printer in Internet Explorer and set it in the configuration section.

You can put any valid email address in (sometimes made up ones work too depending on the SMTP security).

If you tell us the model of the printer we can give you specific instructions.

Well I gave up trying to give it an email hehe. I told the user to deal with it. I found out that they can put anything in the "from" section including a single letter if your lazy. So I don't see why I wasted so much time trying this. There was another Scanner there that was way more complicated then it had to be. So I tinkered with it and showed them how to use it.
