I just looked at my negatives. Some are 2.5 by 3.5 inches. What do you recommend for larger negatives?

Scanner for negatives from the 1920-1940s
I have over 100 negatives from the 1920-1940s. I think these are called "medium" format. What scanner do you recommend I use for these. Someone suggested an Epson Perfection 4490 Photo Flatbed Scanner. Will this work?

Sounds good. Be careful handling them - your local photo shop can probably steer you to some gloves to avoid leaving oil from your fingers on the negatives, as well as a puffer-type blower to clean off as much dust, etc as possible (it's far easier and faster to clean as much as you can off the negatives before you scan).

The Epson Perfection series is an excellent series of scanners. I use mine for scanning transparent media all the time, it's fine for anything up to, but not including, full-size advertising work. You might want to check the size of your negatives, the 4490 will scan up to 2-1/4" material. If your negatives are larger, then let me know and I can make a different recommendation.
