netowkr scan software for lexmark x500

I purchased a lexmark x500 multifunction for our small business office.  the color laser is great and it does some light color copy work okay but the scanner is awful.

the unit came with abbyy finereader 6.0 spirit plus which seems to be much more oriented toward ocr than producing tiff, jpg, pdf etc.

not that we are scanning glossy photos either but I need software that can scan (over the network) and produce an image (rather than an editable document) of the contract/form/brochore/etc. without a lot of hassle

please someone point me in the right direction, the boss (my father) tends to mutter under hius breath about what a waste this machine is (never mind the fact that we needed a color laser printer first and foremost and that aspect of it works fine).

You can go here http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downloads/downloads.cgi and download the TWAIN drivers on the machines that require scanning capabilities.

i have the drivers and am trying (unsuccesfully) to use the included abbyy software but like i said in the op this software is very much designed around ocr.  for example i cant produce a multiple page pdf "image" for sending back signed contracts via email.  it save images as either jpg or tiff.

oh and the software must support that twain network driver so my laptop users can engage the scanner directly from their own desktops
